I used Sprite instead of club soda. Still, to me the flavors and experience were not good.

The correct way to make a mind eraser is in a tumbler glass full of ice, then pour the 2oz Vodka into the bottom, gently layer the 2oz of Kahlua, top off with Sprite or 7up.
Club soda has no reason to be used in this drink.
Can also add maraschino
